I have found that it works well to put a small air bake cookie sheet underneath anything being baked in the stove oven. This eliminates burning the bottom of cakes, cookies, etc. because it is close to the oven burner. Happy cooking.

When using our Dutch Oven to cook outdoors, we line it the inside with aluminum foil. This makes cleanup a breeze. On those times or for those meals that you can't use foil, we add water to the Dutch Oven after the food is out, then put it back on the hot coals and let the water "boil" the leftovers off of the sides of the Oven and makes cleanup a lot easier then scrubbing.

To start coals for a BBQ, I took a large one gallon empty can that veggies came in and cut the top and bottom off of it. On the bottom, I went around the can and poked holes in it with a can opener. I put the can in the fire pit with the extra holes on the bottom and fill it up with the charcoal, add lighter fuel and fire it up. This helps the coals to get to temperature faster and more even. To remove the can, I use a long pair of pliers to grab the top and pull straight up. The coals stay in a tight formation and concentrate the heat.
