Another perfect weekend for the Prairie Winnies campout! People started arriving Thursday afternoon to the Fairgrounds.  We had 21 coaches in attendance as well as some special guests show up from Oklahoma's WIT chapter to enjoy the weekend with us.  Friday's first tour of Hubco showed us how they manufacturer various bags for any number of applications ranging from animal feed to gold and included the different type of textiles they use for bag manufacturing from imported burlap to the various "Made in USA" materials. Sample bags were handed out as souvenirs. The next tour was of the Historic Fox Theater.  This theater which was on the brink of being demolished has been painstakingly restored to it's original beauty and grandeur. The Fox not only shows movies but also hosts concerts from various artists like Art Garfunkel to symphony orchestras. Friday's supper was at the Carriage Crossing in Yoder.  Nobody left hungry from that! In the evening, several couples went back to the Fox for the evening movie "QUEEN".  Others mulled around Hutchison, and the rest spent time in camp and enjoyed each others' company.

Saturday morning we were awakened by a nice but unexpected thunder storm, but everything was cleared out by the time activities started.  Breakfast was provided by the camp hosts the Vesters and Kauffmans, then it was off to the Kansas Salt Mine tours. Not only do they mine salt here, but they are also a national storage facility because of the arid conditions in the mine. They store everything from documents to films. (If Dorothy knew she was going to end up in a big cave in Kansas, she would probably have never left Oz!). As our group was larger then they could take at one time, we were split into two groups, but everyone left with a bag of mined salt to remember the day with.  The afternoon was ours, but most (if not all) of us migrated to the Green's as they were celebrating the christening of their new TOUR.  In spite of temperatures in the upper 90s, and everyone loaded into their 40FD, the coach felt very cool and comfortable. Saturday evening's supper was a potluck followed by the club meeting.  The evening was spent visiting, playing cards, and swatting those pesky Kansas bugs.

We all met in the community room on Sunday morning for a potluck finger food breakfast, followed by a worship service led by Randall Weller and assisted by his wife, Phyllis.  This, unfortunately, led to the inevitable packing up and splitting to go our separate ways once again.

See you all at GNR!!!
